The Six in Detail
1. Paintball
Paintball forces teams to communicate in real time, plan tactics under pressure, and trust each other to cover the angles. Unlike role-played corporate exercises, the consequences are immediate — if you don’t talk to your teammates, you get hit. Most teams come away saying they learned more about each other in three hours of paintball than in a year of meetings.
Best for: 10–200+ players. Energetic teams. Groups that want stress relief alongside team-building. Corporate paintball packages are bespoke — pricing depends on group size, duration and any extras like catering.
Honest catches: outdoor only (rain affects 5–10% of bookings), some team members will be nervous about getting hit. Outdoor laser tag handles the second one — same forest, no physical impact.
2. Multi-Activity Day
Combine paintball, laser tag, archery and axe throwing in a single day across our 100-acre Cobham site. The format works because every team has both the people who want to fire paintballs at their colleagues and the people who’d rather throw an axe at a target.
Best for: groups of 25+, full-day events. The energy stays high because the format keeps changing. Multi-activity day details.
3. Outdoor Laser Tag
Same forest, same scenarios as paintball, but with no physical impact at all (it’s infrared). Lower entry cost, easier sell to mixed-fitness teams, weather is less of a deal-breaker. £26.95 per person.
Best for: teams with members who’d refuse paintball, or where the social dynamic is more important than the adrenaline.
4. Escape Rooms
Pure problem-solving. Brilliant for teams of 4–8 — caps out fast above that. Surrey has several good operators in Guildford, Woking and Esher.
The catch is the group-size cap: above 8 people you need two rooms, which fragments the team. For a 20-person team-building day this means 3 rooms run sequentially or in parallel, and the shared experience evaporates.
5. Treasure Hunt or Scavenger Hunt
Low-physical, mostly-indoor possible, works for any group. Several Surrey operators run these in Guildford, Farnham, or as bespoke around your office. £15–30pp.
Honest assessment: easier to organise than paintball, less memorable. Teams enjoy them but rarely talk about them at next year’s review.
6. Cookery Class
Indoor, social, food at the end. Caps at around 20 because that’s how many people fit in a teaching kitchen. £40–80pp depending on the operator.
Best for: smaller teams, teams where the social element is the actual point, teams with food enthusiasts. Not great if half the team has dietary restrictions.

- 50–100+ people: Multi-activity day or paintball with split teams. Two parallel sessions work fine.
By Season
- Spring/Summer (Apr–Sep): Paintball, laser tag, multi-activity, treasure hunt all work. Outdoor is the obvious win.
- Autumn (Oct–Nov): All outdoor still works; check the forecast and have a backup. Cookery class as a wet-weather contingency.
- Winter (Dec–Feb): Outdoor still runs (kit handles the cold; rain is the only stop). Indoor options become more attractive: escape rooms, cookery, treasure hunts in covered locations.

The honest case for paintball as a team-building activity isn’t that it’s the most fun (though it usually is).
